Your New NYSAA Website

Terry Wilson, NYSAA Board of Directors

The website is up and running. It’s more attractive, more user friendly, and hopefully provides much more value added for all stakeholders.

The first thing you will notice is a set of new pictures on the home page. These pictures are meant to be rotated, and your submissions of New York landmarks, or auctions, or special events are welcome. JBM remains as the website administrator, and will rotate the pictures when appropriate. New pictures are part of keeping the website fresh interesting and attractive for site visitors, but we need to have your picture submissions in order to build a gallery.

The website has several stakeholders, and that becomes apparent when one peruses the radio buttons (where you click under the pictures). All of the radio buttons under the pictures on the home page are new and have new or substantially revised content. Your additions and corrections are welcome.

The ‘Buyers Guide’ button includes ‘Tips for Satisfied Buyers’, ‘Glossary of Auction Terms’ and ‘What do the Initials Mean?’ These topics are intended for buyers and sellers that want information on these topics. We need a section here titled “Tips for Satisfied Sellers,” so send in your ideas.

The ‘News’ button includes an archive of past NYSAA events. It is meant to eventually be a place where news media can go to get information when writing articles about NYSAA, its members, and their events.

The ‘Membership Benefits’ button includes an itemization of benefits for members or potential members, the Code of Ethics, and the Organizations’ By-Laws.

The ‘Board of Directors’ button includes a list of current officers and members. In the upper right corner of the page is a button for ‘Association Who’s Who.’ When you click on it you will find a listing of Past Presidents, Auctioneer of the year, Hall of Fame, and Bid Calling Champions.

The ‘Events’ button is not currently being used and alternative uses are being considered. We welcome your input.

There is also a ‘Contact NYSAA’ button with JBM’s information and an email link.

The last button is ‘Members’ where a user can search for an auctioneer alphabetically, by zip code, or geographic radius. This leads to the same algorithm as for the ‘Find an Auctioneer’ button that appears on the home page. Check your information here to be sure it is correct, and add items that create stakeholder interest in your auction business. You can correct or add information through ‘member log in’ on the bottom left corner of every page. Your same User Name and Password are used for this website as for the previous one. If you forgot or lost yours, JBM will supply them via email.

The ‘Find an Auction’ button lists auctions by date, with auction content, location and auction company name. Listing your auction is very easy and is explained in another article by in this magazine.
